Place des Quinconces Square: Bordeaux, France

The Place des Quinconces Square - where the principal monument, Girondist Monument, was erected between 1894 and 1902 in memory of those who were killed in the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution - and topped with a Lady of Liberty.  German soldiers in search of metals dismantled the bronze statues, horses and other elements during World War II—stealing precious artworks from the Revolution.
